DJ Harley Viera-Newton Bio
Harley Viera-Newton is a London born, New York based DJ. While studying at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Harley began her career as a DJ throwing weekly parties at hotspots including the Beatrice Inn, Lit, Avenue, Le Bain, and the Jane Hotel. She balanced these nights with her other passions, playing bass for the band Lissy Trullie and signing with Next Model Management. Soon after, Harley signed on as the in-house DJ and ambassador for Dior Beauty, creating playlists for their stores, DJing their events, and collaborating with them on a makeup palette.
As a model, Harley has shot campaigns for top brands including Hermes, Uniqlo, DKNY, Michael Kors, Net-A-Porter, Printemps, Cole Haan, Sebastian, Tresemme, Skullcandy, Shoescribe, Tiffany, Gucci and more. She has been featured in magazines such as Vogue, British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Jalouse, Purple, Interview, W, InStyle, Nylon, Lucky, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Teen Vogue. Upon graduating from NYU, Harley signed with Roc Nation. As an in-demand DJ she has played events all over the world, being a staple everywhere from international fashion weeks to Oscar afterparties in Los Angeles. She has also provided the soundtrack to numerous runway shows, the most recent including MaxMara and Desigual.
With a keen eye and love for fashion, Harley has collaborated with several brands on special projects and often served as an ambassador. This list includes Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Topshop, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Sephora, Mulberry, and Target. In the fall of 2013, she worked with Diane von Furstenberg on a holiday capsule collection for DVF, creating a pair of headphones and a handbag inspired by her beloved cat Marmite. The collection launched in DVF stores and online on DVF, Shopbop, and Matches, and sold out almost immediately.
This season Harley has collaborated with the legendary New York accessories designer, Judith Leiber, on a three piece Swarovski crystal embellished handbag collection inspired by Ancient Egypt (a subject she studied at college). The collection launched for pre-order on Moda Operandi and will arrive at Bergdorf Goodman this spring.
In 2012, Harley launched her website, offering a selection of her “shoppable” picks. She continues to update weekly. Most importantly, Harley is a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady, living and working in New York City with her cats Tarzan and Marmite.
